With the landscape of online and offline retail in constant change, industry leaders and professionals need all the information they can get.
From rising trends to emerging technologies, one of the best ways to get informed and connect with other industry thought leaders is to attend conferences. Yet, with so many out there, and even more popping up by the months, it can be difficult to know which ones are worth going to.
For this reason, we compiled a list of the top conferences in the second-half of 2019 (from July onwards) to give the people working in retail an opportunity to stay ahead.
Jul 8-12 – Hong Kong
Known as one of the largest tech conferences in Asia, RISE is held at the Hong Kong Exhibition Center and is produced by the team that created two of the largest tech conferences on the planet (Web Summit and Collision). The event brings together some of the biggest companies and most interesting up-and-coming startups, with around 16,000 attendees, with 71% senior-level management. There will also be countless major global media outlets and influential investors. Some notable speakers include Min-Liang Tan, CEO of Razer, Elie Seidman, the CEO of Tinder, and Annie Tao, Co-Founder of Horizon Robotics.
Jul 11-14 – Bangkok, Thailand
Although fairly new (there were only two editions prior), the ASEAN Retail Show is becoming one of the top leading conferences that focus on the retail industry. The event goes on concurrently with some of the biggest retail franchise shows, the Thailand Franchise & Business Opportunities 2019 and the 13th edition of Thailand Retail, Food & Hospitality Services 2019. This gives attendees an opportunity to exhibit, network, and learn about the latest in retail technology while connecting with industry leaders in Thailand.
Jul 15-17 – Chicago, United States
Famous for being one of the leading conferences for retailers and manufacturers, the Shopper Insights & Retail Activation is part of the Summer Insights Fest. The event was meant to help industry professionals to navigate through the changing landscape of retail through access to leaders, educational sessions and panels. Some notable speakers include the famous best-selling author Dan Ariely and the President of the UPS Store, Tim Davis.
Jul 24-25 – Sydney, Australia
This two-day conference gives business owners and retail industry professionals information on the most cutting-edge e-commerce information. It provides panels to learn about the latest trends, innovations, and solutions that are currently going on in retail. Some notable speakers include Fareena Contractor, the Head of Walmart Innovation Community and Tiffani Bova, author of Growth IQ.
Aug 22 – Hong Kong
Operating under the TAL Group, this conference is known to be Asia Pacific’s premier supply chain conference, Weave 360 takes place in The Mills Fabrica of Hong Kong. It consists of roughly 200 key international and local leaders that work with the supply chain, from retailers to manufacturers. It brings insightful information and knowledgable presentations that help professionals understand the whole value chain within the footwear, apparel and soft goods industries. Some notable speakers this year will be our very AJ Mak of Chain of Demand and David Bell, Co-Founder of Idea Farm Ventures.
Sep 4-7 – Bangkok, Thailand
The event takes place in the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre. With a high number of professionals from the hospitality industry (hotels, restaurants), retailers, importers, and distributors, the event consists of exhibitors and panels that help provide information about emerging retail technologies. It is estimated to have about 100-500 exhibitors and close to 5000 + visitors.
Sep 5-6 – Hong Kong
For anyone interested in fashion in the slightest bit, from students, industry leaders and professionals, the Fashion Summit HK is the conference for you. The event brings key academics, NGOs, decision makers and leaders in sustainability altogether in Hong Kong. It provides a place for attendees to sharing information and exchange insights on the latest sustainable fashion trends, technology, solutions, and opportunities. With the aim to raise public awareness on the role of the fashion industry to achieve sustainability, the event will be a great place to learn and connect with key leaders. Some notable speakers include Dr. Christina Dean, the Founder and Board Chair of Redress, Edwin Keh, the CEO of The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel.
Sep 11-12 – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Sep 19-20 – London, United Kingdom
The summit is perfect for those involved in AI, from data scientists to machine learning specialists, along with retail operations and CEOs in the industry. With some of the world’s brightest, leading innovators in AI attending, the conference gives insight into how this can be applied to the retail and advertising industry. Speakers share insights on recent progress and retail applications. Participants can learn more about AI applications in these two industries and can network with some of the top industry leaders. Not only will there be sessions on digital payments and data optimization, but participants can also learn about marketing innovation, omnichannel commerce, and changes in the supply chain. There will also be over 1000 business meetings and about 25,000 decision-makers that come over a span of the 3 days.
Sep 26 – Jakarta, Indonesia
As Indonesia is set to be one of the biggest potential markets for retail and commerce, it is no wonder that businesses are thoroughly interested in the change that is occurring. The Indonesia Retail Technology & Innovation Summit provides information about modern solutions, trends, and innovations in the retail sector. It aims to connect over 300 senior-level executives, from malls to traditional retailers, giving insight into the digital, technological transformation happening in front of us.
Sep 26-27 – Bangkok, Thailand
Powered by E-Commerce Logistics Show, the third annual Last Mile ASEAN conference will be held in Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre of Bangkok. It covers topics on delivery and fulfillment, supply chain, e-commerce, and omnichannel in the retail industry. The event focuses on pure-players and retailers looking for market growth and helps professionals understand the technological opportunities around the corner. Some notable speakers include Anil Konidena, the Head of SE Asia for the Landmark Group and Patcharin Saensiripun, Founder of Siripatcha.
Oct 2-3 – London, United Kingdom
Noted as one of the most important 2-day festivals for digital commerce and technology, the event helps retailers, tech suppliers, start-ups, and investors come together to learn about the digital revolution, as well as what actions can be taken to gain an advantage in it. Oct 17 – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

It helps connect the participants to thought leaders related to the innovative solutions available in the digital retail age. Oct 23-24 – Singapore
